Special Sessions

Introduction

The objective of special sessions is to complement the technical program of the conference with topics of special interest to the IEEE community.

Prospective organizers of special sessions should submit proposals including:

  • Title of the session
  • A brief abstract introducing the subject and highlighting its significance
  • Name, affiliation, contact information and a short biography of the session organizer(s)
  • A list of at least six paper proposals. Each paper proposal should include the title, list of authors, contact information of the corresponding author, and an abstract.

Proposals must be submitted via e-mail on or before the submission of special session proposals deadline shown below to the Special Sessions Chairs:

Dr. Abdullatif Glass ( aglass@ieee.org ) and Dr. Qassim Nasir ( nasir@sharjah.ac.ae ).

All proposals will be evaluated by the Technical Program Committee of the conference. Selection will be based on the quality of the proposal, relevance and timeliness of the subject, and qualifications and experience of the organizer(s) and the authors.

Notification of acceptance will be sent to the organizer(s) by the notification of acceptance of proposals deadline shown below.

Authors of accepted proposals must then submit their papers through the on-line paper submission system by the submission of full-paper proposal deadline shown below.

Special session papers must conform to the same formatting and submission guidelines (given in the author's kit) and will go through the same review process of regular IEEE GCC 2011 papers.

Final version of accepted papers must be submitted on or before the submission of final version of paper deadline shown below.

A special session paper will appear in the conference proceedings provided that at least one of the authors registers at the author rate using the on-line registration system. This must be carried out on or before the author registration deadline shown below.

The local organization committee reserves the right to cancel a given special session if the number of accepted/registered papers within the session is less than five.
